Hong Kong citizens enjoy religious freedom. It is one of the fundamental rights that is imparted by the constitution. This is the reason there is a mixture of religions in Hong Kong. Some of the religions found here are Buddhism, Taoism, Christianity, Confucianism, Islam, Sikhism, Islam, Judaism and a few other. So, essentially all religions found in Asia are found in Hong Kong. Of these religions, Buddhism has the largest number of followers in Hong Kong with more than 700,000 buddhists.
The high number of buddishts has led to the creation of temples in every part of the historical city. It has more than 600 temples. Of these temples some are as old as 700 years old. A visit to hong Kong requires visitors to visit atleast a few of these historical and beautiful temples. The temples are architectural marvels and can not be seen in any other part of the world.
One of the famous temples here is the Wong Tai Sin Temple located in the gungxi province. It has one of the most famous shrines in China and also Hong Kong. The temple is known for the famous saying “What you request is what you back”. This practice is also known as the kau Cim. The temple is built on an 18,000 sq ft area and is famous for surviving the Japanese rule in Hong Kong. The temple was only recently opened to public in 1934.
There are many other such amazing temples in Hong Kong that need to be visited while one is here. The Man Ho Temple is a fairly young temple which was built in 1847 by Taoists. This temple is located in the Sheung Wan district of Hong Kong. It is by far the largest temple in Hong Kong. This temple is dedicated to two deities,.
